THE UK’s first 3D channel is to be launched next year. Sky will broadcast films, entertainment programmes and sport as part of its High Definition (HD) service.
But viewers will need a ‘3D Ready’ TV to be able to watch programmes in the new format.
The tellies are expected to be on sale next year.
Sky chief Brian Sullivan said: “3D is a genuinely ‘seeing is believing’ experience, making TV come to life as never before.”
In April, Sky became the first company in Europe to broadcast a live event in 3D when they showed indie band Keane performing in the famous Abbey Road Studios.
