If you are experiencing problems watching Sky TV on demand, then carry out the following instructions to help get your TV viewing back to normal.
Powering Off
To get started, you’ll need to power off your various devices.
Firstly, switch off your Sky set-top box by pressing the “Standby” button in the top right hand corner of you remote. Then switch the box off at the mains power source. Remove the plug from the mains socket just to be sure.
Once done, the power light on front of the Sky box should fade and go off completely. This will confirm the Sky box is no longer powered up.
Next, switch off your internet router at the mains socket, ensuring that all the lights on the front panel are no longer illuminated.
If you use a wireless Sky connector as part of your Wi-Fi set up, you’ll also need to power that down too. So unplug that from the mains and wait for all the lights on the front panel to go out.
Checking Cables
Once all fo your devices are powered down, it;’s time to check the cables.
If you use a wired ethernet connection, make sure the ethernet RJ45 connectors are firmly secured to the back of the Sky box and the internet router.
Once you are satisfied all cables are firmly secured, it’s time to reboot your router.
Powering Up
Now plug your router back into the mains socket, switch on the power and allow it to reboot.
Make sure that you give sufficient time for the power and internet lights to come back on. This can take up to a few minutes, sometimes longer. So please be patient.
Once your router has fully powered up and has an internet connection, you’ll need to power up your wireless connector if you use one for Wi-Fi connectivity.
Like above, just plug it back into the mains and allow sufficient time for it to fully boot. It will have completed booting and connecting once the flashing orange light has turned solid white. This may take up to a few minutes to complete.
Finally, switch your Sky set top box back on at the mains power source and allow it to boot. The amber or red standby light should then illuminate.
Give the Sky set-top box at least 4-5 minutes to fully reboot and then press the “Sky” button on your remote. The power light should turn green when the box is ready and you should be all set to start enjoying Sky TV on demand once again.
To confirm that your Sky box has connected to Sky on demand correctly, highlight “Catch Up TV” and then press “Select”. Then on the next screen, highlight “Sky Channels” and press the “Select” button again.
Then browse through the list of shows, select one and start playing. The download should then start and be ready to watch when labelled “AVAILABLE”.
