Like there has been before, there will be a format war between the different parties involved in the development of HD TV in the coming years.Other format wars have included VHS vs BETAMAX, VHS won, then Blueray vs HD DVD, Blue ray won. Sky Cards know why Blueray won the war, its because HD DVD was endorsed by the likes of Toshiba whereas Blueray was supported by companies like Sony, which wanted to, and did put the Blueray tecnology into there playsation devices which had a massive market saturation in the gaming industry.
Sony also had a massive customer following who would back any products they would release, whereas Toshiba make mostly TV’s so to market HD DVD compatable players it would be a harder task than Sony.
So it is almost garaunteed that if you are with Sky for your current HD TV then Sky Cards think that you are with the right TV provider going forward to ensure you HD 3D viewing.
You will however when the time comes have to updgrade your hardware, and buy some 3D glasses, but from Sky Cards resarch these will probably be about a £2 by the time the 3D technology is mainstream.
